Snow Day!

I had to decide whether or not to write about the concoction that Aidan made last night....which started as cupcake mix. We added the requisite ingredients: 3 eggs, 1/3 c oil and 1/2 c water. Aidan informed me that HE was cooking and asked me to leave the kitchen. (I did) To the bowl he added: instant coffee, honey, my ENTIRE bottle of new, just-opened Chardonnay, and some bay leaves. He mixed them up with the electric mixer, and I took a picture. Here it is. Did I mention that he spilled the bowl putting it "into the oven" all over the kitchen floor?

Today Aidan and I went to the local mountains with Aunt Leslie, Uncle Neil, and his cousins Connor (3) and James (8 mo). Leslie is actually my best friend who I have known for the last 28 years, and really after that long she is my sister. We had a blast. We sledded and had snowball fights. Uncle Neil fell and hit his tailbone in the slippery snow. He was not too happy.
Later, when we got to the car I got a message from my friend, checking on me from Nebraska (where he is visiting family) and my sister, who was calling from the beach a mile from my parents house. Only in Southern California can you drive from shore to snowy mountain in 2 hours. I love it!!!
