I am moving in with Kevin.
Can't say that I was asked really, it just kind of happened naturally. I could complete this sentence with "as those things do" but then I don't know how people end up living together.

My ex-boyfriend moved in with the girlfriend before me after the huge Northridge earthquake. He lived in an apartment IN the epicenter, so when his apartment collapsed and the building was condemned, he moved into her place. And so it went for them, for a little while.

I've never lived with anyone before. I've never had that conversation with anyone but a roommate or my best friend, when we moved in together back in 1996.
So it has been awhile.

Kevin has a much bigger house, in a much nicer area, with a much nicer school district. When Aidan did not get accepted into 6 other schools in my area and I had to enroll him in the crappy home school..we started talking.

Talking slowly, tenuously, so as not to freak either of us out, since both of us have been flying solo here for nearly a decade.

So as the talking has progressed, the decision was made. Aidan and I move on 8/20/10. A few weeks ago I got the enrollment paperwork for the home school near Kevin's house, and last week Kevin added my name to two utility bills. (to prove residency)
The first arrived this morning. Wow.

As I feel nerves and excitement and this subtle feeling of "OMG I cannot believe we are doing this!" I think about forging forward in a partnership with someone I love. This is something I never knew would be possible back when I decided to have a child on my own. Two names, together on a bill.
Wow.
What our new life will bring....
